In five short weeks, this family has worked their way into my heart! Five weeks ago I met the Ceballos family for the first time to do their maternity photos. Just one week later on July the 4th, I had the honour of documenting their baby boy’s entrance to the world. And last night I had the pleasure of seeing little Jacob once again to photograph him in all his newborn glory.
I always feel like I have a special bond to my clients and their babies when I am there to photograph their birth and this family is no exception. Baby Jacob and his family (and his super cool grandma!) will always hold a special place in my heart.
Choosing photos for a sneak peak for this session was hard, so I decided to forget being selective and just do a mega-post!
This first one is kind of special – if you saw Melissa’s maternity photos, this scarf was used in one of her belly photos and we thought it would be a neat idea to use it again for a special Mommy-Newbie photo. I love the way the deep tones of the scarf go so well with Melissa’s dark complexion and features – the warm colours just bring out how warm of a person she really is.

I absolutely died laughing when I saw this next one on my LCD. We all had a good laugh.
I think his lips look like Pingu… below.

Pingu:

Hee hee.
Moving on…

And lastly, the whole happy family

Thanks for letting me be a part of this special time of your lives and I hope to be part of more
I thought I would start a category posting some of the funny little moments I have heard from kids over the course of my photography career. If there is one thing children and babies are good at above all things, it’s making you laugh!
When I asked a little girl whether she loved the pretty dress she was wearing (as this kind of question almost always invokes a sweet, girly expression and pose from little girls, terrific photo op!) she replied quite matter of factly,
“Yes, I do, I love my new dress soooo much. I’m so happy I’m a princess. But Daddy says that Mommy spent toooooo much money on it just for one day of pictures.” ;-D
Another one was from the little girl in the previous post “Dimples” – Kaelyn is very full of her own little personality. When I was doing her portraits, she started striking.. well, slightly cheesy ultra-girly poses, like the second one in the post. She said to me as she was striking a pose,
“Mommy doesn’t like it when I do this for pictures, but I think it’s VERY cute.” Of course, I snapped away!
Hope you enjoyed, more to come!
